Holy Flipping Christ. Can these people do ANYTHING right? Via Josh Marshall, we learn that part of the money to pay for hurricane Katrina damage will come from....wait for it.....THE CDC BUDGET!!I mean, come on. If anyone watched Primetime Live on the night of Bush's speech, you will note that every expert out there agrees that the US is woefully, even criminally behind in preparations for the Avian Flu pandemic. Not a pandemic at the moment, but the fact that Bush is killing CDC funding says to me that of course the pandemic will hit, just because everything he touches turns to shit. Only one lab is making Tamiflu, and that lab is filling requests for it on a first-come, first-served basis. The US? At the bottom of the list, because we can't get our shit together enough to fill out a flipping request form.

I can see it now: mass outbreak, people dying by the thousands, and the press will ask, 'why didn't you prepare?' And they'll hear, 'we couldn't have foreseen the dangers of a flu pandemic.' You just know that will be the response. Holyflippingchrist, please do your work, powerhouse media. You have to. This is so dangerous. Dangerous, irresponsible...insert your own word here.
