Operation Yellow Elephant In Full Panic Mode

This is interesting. In Colorado schools, the military is allowed access to a list of students nearing graduation, but students can opt out of allowing the military to recruit them. It seems that the numbers of kids opting out are on the rise:

"School officials said they don't know why the number of opt-outs is going up.
Some parent groups have been vocal in opposition to military recruiting, said Mark Langston, assistant principal at Monarch High School in the Boulder Valley School District. But Monarch students themselves haven't been rallying against the war, he said.
The school is not interested in getting involved in the issue, Langston said."

I'll bet.

What's even more interesting is the numbers by county. Douglas County is the fastest growing county in the country right now. It's overwhelmingly Republican. Ditto Elbert County. Even the Cherry Creek school district, tres Republican, has 67 percent opt out rate. Wow. I wonder why this is?
